Passing The ICT Skills Test - Clive Ferrigan
The content of the book / resource
This book tries to cover all the basic skills of using a computer. This is an immense task and is tackled reasonably well in this short text. It does however mislead to some extent as the test desktop is unlike that used in reality. Its effectiveness in catering for its target audience
The trainees will gain valuable information from this text but need to go online to really observe how different the screens are to a normal desktop. The value to the user
Very useful basic introduction to the areas needed to be covered in the test. If all this information is worked through the trainee will be well equipped for the test. Its capacity to support students and / or mentors
Provides a good basic support.
Its particular strengths and any weaknesses
The content does not match exactly the test that the trainee will meet. It suggests that a right click option will be available on the test which is not the case. There is no right click or undo option on the tests. The trainee will cover all the basics but needs to practice on line to really get a feel for the test. The format for the test will change in September 2004 but the content will remain largely the same with another review in September 2005.Readability, presentation and cost
A reasonably easy to book to read with many screen shots to help. Not all the screen shots are the same as the trainee will see on screen.Value for money
At £6.99 reasonable value for money.
