The content of the book / resource
The book covers all the areas of Literacy needed to pass the Skills Test. It is clearly laid out and guides the trainees through basic spelling, punctuation, comprehension and grammar.Its effectiveness in catering for its target audience
The text is rather dry but does cover all the areas needed by the trainee. The tests are likely to change in September 2005. The format may well be different but the basic content will remain the same.The value to the user
It enables the user to identify and practice any areas of weakness in Literacy but they do not need to work through section by section.Its capacity to support students and / or mentors
The book provides all the explanation and background that is needed to explain the rules of Literacy to the trainee. It provides sample question and answers and provides explanation of all the answers.

This book is rather dry and has no visual stimulation for the reader. The text is clearly laid out but it is hard work ploughing through the sections. It will however provide a comprehensive guide to all that is needed by the trainee.Readability, presentation and cost
This book is hard work but it is difficult to make this basic Literacy interesting. The book provides all that is needed to pass the tests.Value for money
