Full EMAC Review

The content of the book / resource
The video clips last 27 mins in all, but span 5 episodes: introducing the trainee to the school’s resources, organization etc; guidance on developing medium term plans; discussion of lesson plan; the lesson [in excerpts] – with a Y4 class; post-lesson review and target setting.

Its effectiveness in catering for its target audience
The video is excellent for guiding mentors – modelling good practice in general.

The value to the user
At £7.00 this is a good investment. There is a companion guide booklet, too, separately available

Its capacity to support students and / or mentors
This would be a useful adjunct to the DoingITT training materials: Modules 2, 3 and 5.

Its particular strengths and any weaknesses
It models good practice, though the detailed analysis of one lesson’s plan is recognized as being unachievable for all but the initial lesson – but then it hopefully would not be needed again anyway – for any other subject area. Although focused on science, it is quite generally applicable.

Readability, presentation and cost
The video is clear, easy to follow and good value for money at only £7.00. The packaging usefully summarises the sections within it.
