Other Considerations when Writing ITT Reports
Is the report to be shared? Has this been openly agreed and based upon previous discussion.Are agreed criteria consistently applied? Does the writing refer directly to the QTS Standards?
Is the report fair and accurate?
Is the writing accessible to the audience?
Is the writing appropriate to the audience?
Is the report related to the needs of the individual?
Is the report truthful and developmental?
Does the report review the individual's strengths and areas for improvement in a forthright way?
The report should be carefully written and factual. It should be clear, concise, unambiguous and honest.
The report must provide an effective agenda for further development and progression. This advice must be given in a clear and unambiguous manner.
Targets/areas for improvement should be: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time related and able to be evaluated by the trainee.
The report should also indicate any help, advice, support and guidance that may be available for the trainee.
The report must make clear links between teaching and learning.
Language used in the report must be clear and concise and jargon should be avoided.
