dot Are agreed criteria consistently applied? Does the writing refer directly to the QTS Standards?

dot Is the report fair and accurate?

dot Is the writing accessible to the audience?

dot Is the writing appropriate to the audience?

dot Is the report related to the needs of the individual?

dot Is the report truthful and developmental?

dot Does the report review the individual's strengths and areas for improvement in a forthright way?

dot The report should be carefully written and factual. It should be clear, concise, unambiguous and honest.

dot The report must provide an effective agenda for further development and progression. This advice must be given in a clear and unambiguous manner.

dot Targets/areas for improvement should be: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time related and able to be evaluated by the trainee.

dot The report should also indicate any help, advice, support and guidance that may be available for the trainee.

dot The report must make clear links between teaching and learning.

dot Language used in the report must be clear and concise and jargon should be avoided.
